We have tried using multiple shipping label printers for our business. The printers do not last long and typically fail within 12 months. We would like to use a standard printer to print our shipping labels. We cannot use ink jet because the labels can get wet during shipping and the ink will run. We believe a laserjet printer would be the best option. However we need the labels to auto feed into the printer. We do not want to manually feed one at a time. Please suggest the best printers for this application.

I agree with Repairatrooper about using Zebra printers. I have many customers that use them. Models like a GK420 only run about $500 and several of my customers have them. One customer uses them for labels in a very dirty manufacturing environment and I rarely have any issues with them. I've been fixing Zebras for a couple of decades and they're quite reliable. If you really want a laser printer, most any model will do fairly well, just make sure to buy quality labels so they don't peel off inside the printer.

What type of label printers have you been buying? If you print a lot of labels, then you should be looking at something like a Zebra printer. These will probably cost you 1-2 thousand dollars but they will last. There are no short cuts when printing in a business environment. If volume is low you might be able to use a Laserjet but the cost of labels will typically be higher than a dedicated label printer.
