What are the correct exposure settings for JPEG and PDF when scanning a newspaper article?

Thanks for your tip. After trial and error, here's a set of parameters that that I found works pretty well:

Image: Halftone; Brightness: 65; Contrast 40; Midtone:  -61

If anyone comes up with a better set, I hope they post it here.

It would great if HP provided clarification on using the exposure parameters.

I have never seen a "published" set of settings as different users have different experiences. Likely you are going to want the background cleanup set a little higher to reduce "bleed through" where the text from the opposite side of the page creates a background. Also greyscale or text only modes will likely yield better results.

Typically there is some trial and error testing required to get scanned images that you are happy with.
