When I print from Word, I am getting thick blue smudges down each side of the page.  Any help please, as I am printing for a business and I don't want our paperwork going out like this.

Hi! @laurajanehales, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand when you print from your printer the printer is printing blue streak on both sides of pages.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Have you tried printing using a different brand paper?

Have you tried printing using a different toner cartridge?

As you mentioned when you print from your printer the printer is printing blue streak on both sides of pages.

Try the steps recommended below.

Check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty toner cartridges.

Print a diagnostics page

  1. Load letter or A4 unused, plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the product control panel, press the Setup button ().

  3. Press the Right Arrow button () to select Reports, and then press OK.

  4. Press the Right Arrow button () to select Diagnostics Page, and then press OK.

  5. Press OK to print the diagnostics page.

    • If the diagnostics page prints correctly, try printing again. If you are still experiencing print quality issues

Calibrate the printer

Follow these steps to calibrate the product.

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product, if it is not already on.

  2. On the product control panel, press the Setup button ().

  3. Press the Right Arrow button () to select System Setup, and then press OK.

  4. Press the Right Arrow button () to select Print Quality, and then press OK.

  5. Press OK to select Calibrate Color. The calibration takes about two minutes. Wait until the calibration ends before proceeding.

  6. Try printing again.

If the copy works fine, try uninstalling the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer software using this link: https://hp.care/2KjwgL0

Thank you.  It turns out that my cyan toner cartridge had an issue, even though it was only half used.  I have changed the toner cartridge and it seems to have resolved the issue.
