CM4540

Our CM4540 (color laserjet enterprise) started printing horizontal yellow lines last week. The toner was almost done, so I replaced it. However, now it is printing a large vertical yellow area all across every page. Even when I copy a white page this appears.

I have tried every kind of maintenance function I know of, including wiping the toner itself with cleaning tissue.

Any idea how this is possible?

Hi @thierryv,

It seems that you have come across a defective new yellow cartridge. If I were you, I would try and test the printer with a known good yellow cartridge and see if the problem is resolved. If it is resolved then you should return the defective toner cartridge and request a replacement. If it is not resolved then further investigation is needed to find out the cause of the problem.

I hope this helps,

Cheers!

So I tried just copying a bunch of white paper and the yellow disappeared. Lots of mechanical noise. I took out the cartridge and it fell apart. A small screw (without profile so more like a holder pin) was inside the printer.

So yeah, it was defective. Ordered a replacement.
