Color Laserjet CP4020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our Color Laserjet CP4020 Series printer is not out of ink/toner, but my computer displays a message stating that it is when we try to print.  If we turn the printer off/on, it will print again for a few pages.  Then we get the error message again.

I realize the printer is obsolete, but we just put all new ink in it.  It also says Tray Kit Very Low, but it has said this for years and shouldn't cause it to stop printing.

There are no hardware upgrades.  Is there anything I can do besides buy a new printer?

Can you print and post the supplies status page? Did you install new HP cartridges or are they third party? It is possible that the chip on the cartridge has failed and therefore is reading low and triggering the error.

HP Support had me reset the printer (as soon as turn on, press down arrow, all the lights light, press up arrow then home button, up arrow to NVRAM, press OK .)  I'm not sure if that had something to do with it, but that did not solve the problem right away.  Then I pulled out everything that could possibly be removed from the printer, ink, trays, etc.  I put them all back in, and the error went away.  It is printing fine.
