Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I haven't yet succeeded in finding a driver for my multi-function Canon printer/scanner/fax.  My HP Pavilion laptop won't accept the original installation on the disk provided by Canon which I've tried to install using an external CD/DVD player, and I don't seem to be able to download an updated driver from the Canon website either. I notice that the HP system is designed for bluetooth devices. Perhaps someone can help. Thank you.

Hi PhD Student,

I finally got my Canon printer and Scanner to work - quite a breakthrough. As you said you need to download the Canon MF4500 Toolbox as well as the most recent driver, but also there is a Windows 10  "Scan App" available which I installed. That may be new and perhaps made the difference.

Thank you for your advice - problem finally solved.

@HelenBT

What is your Canon printer ? Please go to Canon site to download driver (if available). My Canon PIXMA MP990 printer which is 8 years old is still working with my Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 machines.

Regards.

Thank you for your reply banhien.

I tried again downloading a driver for my Canon "MF4570dn" multi-function device from the Canon site and this time it worked, but only for the printer. The scanner unfortunately doesn't respond, and I don't use the Fax. Could it be something to do with the type of USB connection I have, not being sufficient for the scanner and/or not being compatible with HP Pavilion ? This Canon device worked perfectly before with my old Dell Latitude laptop and my old Dell PC (with Windows XP and Vista!) but I had exactly the same problem using an Asus laptop with Windows 10 also. Only the printer worked. Perhaps you or another member of the forum has experienced this same problem ? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I will try to assist.To use scanning with USB you will need to download the Canon MF toolbox as well.This will allow you to use the scanning option.Hope this will help.

Hello PhD Student and thanks for your quick response.

I tried to find a download for the Canon Toolbox on the internet for Windows 10 but there doesn't seem to be one. On the Canon support forum I found that there are a lot of people with exactly the same problem as I have. The scanner no longer works when switching to Windows 10, and they're asking Canon to fix the problem ! Perhaps you may have another solution ? ! Thank you in advance.
