Cannot get my LJ Pro CM1415fnw to feed from the top manual tray. I scan from there all the time.
Its a pain to pull the 8x11 paper out and then have to put in the envelopes in the bottom 250 page tray.
Then it freakin JAMS ARRRghh !
It used to be as snap with my old LJ 4050TN !

I am responding on behalf of @sandytechy20 as he is out for the day. It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.
I would like to inform you that you can only copy and scan using the ADF and you will not be able to print. This is how the printer is designed.
Hope that answers your question.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting ADF feeding issue.
Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad
-
Gather the following materials:
-
A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that will not come apart or leave fibers
-
Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the printer)
-
-
Remove the originals from the ADF.
-
Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
-
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Open the ADF cover, and then find the rollers and the separator pad.

-
Separator pad
-
-
Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with filtered or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
-
Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers and the separator pad.
-
Leave the ADF open for two minutes to allow the pick rollers and separator pad to dry
-
Close the ADF cover.
-
Reload the original document print side up in the document feeder tray. Gently slide the document into the printer as far as it will go.
NOTE:
Do not load more than 35 pages in the ADF. Larger stacks of paper can lead to pick problems.
-
Adjust the paper guides until they are snug against the paper.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
-
Test the ADF. Press the Start Copy button (
) to make a copy.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers.

Hi,
Tried procedures you outlined already before i came to the forum. All types of paper picks up fine but it refuses envelopes and always defaults back to the lower bin. I tried various autoselect choices for trays but that did not work out.
I just found on the laser LCD panel under system settings you can specify paper type and also includes envelops...
I just want to keep my regular 8.5 x 11 paper in the bottom 250 pag tray and pop envelops into my upper manual feed as required and print them as required.
Perhaps the sw driver does not permit me to pass envelopes thru the upper manual tray..???
I have same problem on my OJ 6600 - i can't print envelops from top feed. It must be a linitation perhaps ?
Thanks and Best
