When on my PC in the print diologue options, properties, advanced etc the menu options to select colour printing has completely disappeared. As in yesterday it was there, today it has disappeared. This affectcs all MS Office applications, Adobe, everything. Any known solutions? It is always a worry when between turning your PC off at noight and turning it on agaion in the morning somehow a standard feature you've been using for years has gone... The printer I'm using is a Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw.

Common issue with Windows 11 is an update causing a reset of settings or your HP driver being replaced by a Microsoft IPP driver that does not support color. I have also had issues with a driver failing to detect the color support of the printer.
Things to check: 1. First make sure you have a proper HP driver installed and not a Microsoft IPP or Class driver installed.
On your PC go to the control panel app
Right click on Devices and Printers and select "open"
Right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties"
Click on the "advanced tab", and check the name of the driver. If it is one of the drivers mentioned above, delete the printer, download the current install package from support.hp.com and reinstall.
2. If you do have the proper HP driver installed do this:
On your PC go to the control panel app
Right click on Devices and Printers and select "open"
Right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties"
Click on the "device settings" tab and scroll down until you see "device type" and change to color
Device Type Settings

Thanks! This last step was the one that fixed it for me: "Click on the "device settings" tab and scroll down until you see "device type" and change to color". Mine had defaulted to "auto" which seems to be another way of Microsoft saying "black and white only"...
