Hi there,
I'm sending this message after frustrating hours of trying to get this working. I own an M477 connected to my network
I'm trying to setup a scan to my network folder with the folder being a shared folder on my Mac.
I followed the instruction of the HP utility program:
- Create a specific folder under my account (Scans)
- Make sure this folder is a share folder (all have read/write access)
- under options, select windows sharing and clicking my account so as to have my access credintials in the system
- Fill in the complete data on the printer network page (See picture below)
- When testing, the result remains the same: The test was unsuccessful. Try again.
Crazy thing is, I also have a synology on the network and scanning to that one works without problems, why not to my mac ? (I cannot always make use of the synology)
Could you please help me - thanks in advance
Stephane

Hi Stephane,
Although the folder is not in the root folder, this is the share name for the folder and therefore it can be accessed using the share path, the share name redirect to the shared folder full path.
Regarding the other issue, be sure to update the latest printer firmware and the scan problem should be resolved
Fixes:
- Fixed an issue in macOS High Sierra and later where Scan to Network folder would not scan above 75 ppi.
Please let me know how it goes,
Shlomi

Hi,
Please try using a path in the form of the IP address / the scan folder (\\192.168.178.10\Scans) and then check if you may see any difference.
Please let me know if you see any difference,
Shlomi

Hi Shlomil,
And thanks for your quick reply.
Strange things happening here!
1. Yes your solution allowed the test to pass but I was really surprised because this folder is absolutely not in the root directory. How will things sort out when I do have a Scans folder under my account Users/Stephane/Scans and I have a similar folder for my Wife Users/Cecile/Scans ? how will the printer know to which folder the file must go.
2. Even though the test passed, the real scanning doesn't take place : I got an error message on the printer : Cannot write to <location> because folder is read only, has wrong permission, or is no longer available whereas none of this is true ?
Looking at other threads in this forum,I also restarted both my Mac and Printer but no changes there.
Could you tell me what's going wrong?
Thanks again
BR
Stephane

Dear Shlomil,
Thanks again for your help.
I had already updated the drivers so no change there but I replaced the IP address by the computer name (MacMini) and since then, it all worked.
I suppose the network path is an Apple definition. Never heard about this so learned something new here. Thanks for that
Much appreciated.
Stephane

You're much welcome @Stephane_NL!
Great to see you are now successfully able to scan to the shared folder on your Mac.
Cheers,
Shlomi
