Cartridge Compatibility

Does anyone know if the 201X cartridge and the 202X cartridge are interchangeable?

A friend salvaged a M277dw printer from the trash room in his building but it has no cartridges in it.

He doesn't want to come up with $300 for cartridges to find out the unit doesn't work.

I have the M281cdw and would let him try using my cartridges but mine are the 202X and his uses the 201X.

Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?
