Hi @Rebecca2026

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — before diving into solutions, let’s slow down and isolate the situation properly. The error “Cartridge memory missing” can stem from several different factors, and the exact cause depends heavily on the printer model, cartridge type, and installation context.

To narrow this down, I’ll need to understand a few details from you:

Printer details
• Exact model name/number of the printer
• Whether it’s a laser printer or inkjet

Cartridge specifics
• Are these genuine OEM cartridges or third‑party compatibles?
• Are they brand new, refurbished, or remanufactured?
• Do they all show the error, or only certain slots?

Installation context
• How are you installing — via HP setup software, Windows built‑in drivers, or another method?
• Was the printer previously working with older cartridges?
• Any firmware updates recently applied?

Environment
• Operating system you’re installing on (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.)
• Connection type (USB, network, wireless)

Once I have this information, I’ll be able to pinpoint whether this is a cartridge recognition issue, a firmware mismatch, or something mechanical like contacts not reading properly. Could you share these details so we can zero in on the root cause?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
