Everything prints way too dark. Same in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. I downloaded the user guide, but could not find any way to adjust the output intensity. Output adjustment seems to be available for Windows only. Does anybody out there know the secret formula for Mac users? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I usually check the adjustment intensity option directly on the pinter.
Go to System set up, Select the Print Intensity or Density option, and 3 is the default setting, it goes on a scale from 1-5, the five being really dark, change it to a 1 or 2, and try it out.

Hi,
Try changing the print density. Instructions can be found in the "Improve Print Quality" document in teh Adust Print Density section.

Hello Top Student,
I posted a reply in error yesterday. My Color Laser Jet Pro M452dn has a 2-line control panel so I followed the directions for that type of display. I found that under System Setup there is no such thing as "Print Density" so I cannot access those settings. Previously, I was able to pull up the Print Density settings on my computer screen and was able to adjust output from there, but for the life of me I can't remember how I got there. Please advise.
Thanks.

Hi,
Open your web browser. Type just the IP address of the printer into the address window and return. This should open the embedded web server on the printer and allow you to do the settings. Dovid

Hi Dovid,
I have just the opposite problem with my M252dw & want to change the default font to something with broader lines. I hope that will solve the problem & thank you for leading me to the internal webserver to do that.
Best wishes,
(more nearly) patient

I think this is what you are describing for the M452dw:
Control Panel / Devices and Printers
Double-click the printer
Double-click HP Device Toolbox
System / Print Density
Change all black values from 0 to -1
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Select:
Print / Properties for your document
Paper Quality / Paper Type
Color / photo (sRGB)
This helps a lot, but not perfect. Not sure what, if any, other print densities should be changed.

I have a couple of problems. There is Density option on my menu and I just updated the firmware to see if it would show up. The other problem is that the color violet is coming out to blue. I figure I could adjust that out with the same fix.

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are facing print quality issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro M452 printer.
This issue could occur if one of the cartridges is low on ink.
Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.
-
Reprint the document.
-
Remove the cartridge, and then shake it to redistribute the toner.
-
Make sure that the cartridge is installed correctly.
-
Print a Supply status page and check for life and usage of the cartridge.
-
Replace the cartridge.

Also, I suggest that you calibrate the printer by following the steps provided below:
1. On the printer control panel, press the OK button.
2. Open the following menus:
● System Setup
● Print Quality
● Color Calibration
● Calibrate Now
3. Press the OK button to start the calibration process.
A Calibrating message will display on the printer control panel. The calibration process takes a few minutes to complete. Do not turn the printer oƫ until the calibration process has ƭnished.
4. Wait while the printer calibrates, and then try printing again.
