Hi there,

My printer been working fine via wifi since I got it, yesterday it suddenly stopped working via wifi - I am not aware of anything that has changed on any device for this to have happened. I checked my mac has up to date software, rebooted mac, router and printer. Did a wifi network report from the printer and that showed everything was OK. Tried to do a software update check on the printer and it couldn't find my router to do that via wifi, I had to hard wire it in to the router to check for the update, it said it was up to date. I am thinking there is an issue with the wifi on the printer. Please can anyone  help, I got the printer for it's wifi and duplex capability so I really could do to sort out the wifi issue so I stop tripping over the wire that is currently going to the router! Any help very gratefully received.

Many thanks

Jo

I understand you are having trouble connecting your MAC Sierra to the Officejet 8710 printer. First, make sure the printer is connected to the network. Just check the blue wireless light on the printer. If the wireless light is blinking, then you need to connect the printer to the network first.

You can follow the instructions here to setup the printer to the network: Wireless or Wired Network Printer Setup

If the wireless light is solid blue, then the printer is connected to the network. Now follow the steps below and check:

  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Jeet many thanks for your reply.

I successfully did all your points below. Wifi was connected so I just did you listed points - it saw the printer fine to add and load and I selected the name of the printer instead of the default Airprint all fine. However when I now try and print, the printer is their to select but it doesn't and when I look at the printer dialoque box it says the printer is not connected - which seams strange since it managed to find it to re-install everything. I have double checked that the wifi signal is still OK on the printer and that is at full...

Anything else I can try?

Also! - I don't know if I said but to be able to print I am just connecting a wire between the printer and my router and that works, I don't have to connect directly to my computer. Incase that helps you diagnose...

Many thanks

Jo
