Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw

Hello. I just recently purchased a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw printer and it is wonderful a large improvement from our previous inkjet printer. One neat feature present on this printer is the ability to print directly from your USB drive. However it seems to me that the option to print 2 sided is missing. You can print 2 sided when the request is made from the PC but not when the request is directly from the Printer. I would love to know if it is possible to print 2 sided directly from USB because it is a very efficient system.

There is nothing wrong with the printer other than this little query and you can hardly even call it that.

I give my thanks to all who reply.

I believe that this issue would be addressed if duplex option is turned on from control panel settings (hardware configuration)

Hello, @Jk6591

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to help 🙂

You can print 2-sided from the PC and also while making a copy from the printer control panel.

But, from USB I think the option is not available. You need to transfer the document to the PC and then make a 2-sided print.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Cheers 🙂

I have got around this problem by first printing a copy of the document required directly from the USB

Then use the Copy on both sides manually option, noting the two differences below!

  1. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass with the upper-left corner of the page in the upper left corner of the glass. Close the scanner.
  2. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Copy
  3. Select the number of copies required at the top of the screen.
  4. Touch the Settings button.
  5. Scroll to and touch the Two-Sided button.
  6. Select the 1 to 2 Copy
  7. Touch the Black or Colour button to start copying.
  8. Your first side has been scanned, but not printed - DO NOT PRESS DONE
  9. You will now be asked to place the 2nd page on glass

If you then require the same document to be printed on both sides:-

  • TURN the page UPSIDE DOWN on the glass as described above, then touch the OK button.

If you then require 2 different documents to be printed one on either side:-

  • Place the second page on the glass as described above, then touch the OK button.

When prompted for 3rd page you can repeat the cycle or PRESS DONE.

On only on pressing DONE, the printer will start to print out your document for the required number of copies.
