One week ago my printer started to make a high-pitched noise when it prints.  There is no sound when it is not in use--only when I am printing. I have gone online and looked at countless websites and tried some of the suggested remedies (i.e. unplugging it, etc.).  If it is a mechanical problem, which I suspect it is, there is no way to clean inside of it (I am, admittingly, not mechanically inclined).  I am considering just buying a new printer once the ink in this one just runs out.  But if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I know there have been posts about this problem dating back to five years ago!

Could be a couple of things. Cartridge noise would be high pitched or transfer belt. What are dies the sound come from?

Sound appears to be coming back from the back of the machine.

It seems to only happen when I am printing.  For example, I just opened the machined and closed it--the machine started up again and no noise. But I printed a page and the high-pitched noise is back.
