I am getting frequent jams when printing label stock, the kind with two labels per 8.5x11 sheet. It is jamming every other time I print a label. Sometimes I have to print it 6x to get the label to print. The labels feed OK in the feeder, but get jammed in the feeder tray. Every time I clear a jam, it then prints the label on regular paper which is eating up a lot of ink. I am pretty sure the feeder tray is reinstalled correctly every time. It seems to slide up and snap in when you push it all the way back, so I don't think I am inserting it improperly every time I clear a jam.

The printer is only a month old. Printing on regular paper works fine, only printing from label stock gets jammed a lot. Was working fine for a month until the first jam.

You need to use the manual feed to print on labels, as described in user manual on page 23.

I am using the manual feed. It was working OK for 6-7 sheets but once I got a jam, it is jamming every other time I try to print. The sheet feeds automatically into the feeder slot but doesn’t cycle through the machine during the print process. The printer says there is a jam and the sheet is either sitting at the end of the feeder tray or stuck in the rollers at the back.

Is there a trick to reinstalling the feeder tray? I am thinking it's loose however no matter how many ways I try to insert the tray (so it inserts in rails or something), it snaps up snug when I push it up and back.

I contacted HP tech support and they got on my computer and could not fix the issue. They tried updating the firmware. Still got a jam on the first label print. What about what your website troubleshooting guide suggests: pull the plug for 60 sec with the printer on?

I am within the return period from the vendor locally. I am thinking of returning the printer for another one. When I install the other printer, do I have to do anything except plug it in and make sure it is connected to my WIFI? Won't my computer automatically find it or do I have to do the software install all over again?

I am not too happy about two facts:

1. There is NO factory HP service center in Hawaii.

2. After just one jam, the printer looks like is broke something within and I can no longer print label stock. Doesn't inspire confidence in HP. I had a Brother printer for the last couple of years with no issues and they have a local service center.

If you are still within the return period from the vendor then return it.

Getting a printer repaired will take a lot of time and probably sending device somewhere to repair centre.
