I am unable to connect this printer to Web Services or Google cloud printing. I can print to it wirelessly through my router with my windows laptop and a Mac Book. I can also print from my android phone using wi-fi direct.
But I am unable to get it to connect through web services connect via its IP address or by using the on machine touch screen- device claims no internet connection.
If I can get eprint to work or google cloud print it would be helpfull.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂
I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that you have an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printer and need help to connect the printer to Web Services or Google cloud print. You have been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills and valuable patience. Kudos to you for that.
During my research, I found that this printer is not compatible to print from the Google Cloud print. However, we can have the printer connected to the web services by following steps:
- Please download and update the firmware for your printer via these links:
For Windows operating systems: https://hp.care/2EtNNf8
For Mac OS: https://hp.care/2EtBWOh
The printer needs to be restarted after the firmware is successfully installed.
Now, let us assign a static IP address to the printer. The following steps will help:
• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
• Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
• Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Incase the printer still does not connect to the web services then please perform step 1 to step 7 from this HP document: https://hp.care/2BYfGzy
I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know how it goes.
Good luck! 🙂
