Every time, without exception, whenever I print after turning on the printer or waking up from standby mode the first page will jam. Once I've cleared the crumpled paper from the printer it works just fine. Until the following day when it happens all over again. It's as if the printer needs to eat one piece of paper first thing in the morning, like it's wake up cup of coffee, then it's good to go for the rest of the day.

It's not a mechanical issue, as it works great after it's first page of the day. It seems to be a software problem that's causing it to feed the first page wrong when it's been off or in standby for more than 12 hours.

What about a copy?

If the first page you print in the morning is a plain copy not something from a computer will it jam? That will eliminate possible software issue.

I tried your suggestion of making a copy first, it did not jam but it did not work 100% either. The paper passed through but it did catch in the same place that it usually does when it jams. I've attached a photo of the paper to show. Something else that occurred to me, if this is a mechanical fault, perhaps the first print is causing the machine to warm up to the point that whatever is catching on the paper expands and moves out of the way.

Something mechanical is causing that mark on the paper. You will need to remove consumables and check the interior of the printer.
