HP all in one 8720

Printer is about 1 year old, only use once a month. One day out of the blue, paper jam. thins I have tried.

  • I confirmed using good quality paper
  • Cleaned printer heads and rollers
  • restarted the unit

Please refer to picture and see where it is getting torn up, same place, and please notice missing piece, not sure if that is contributing to the issue.

Looking up the SN, it says no longer covered under warranty.  Something worth sending in to fix, or easy fix on own?

Appreciate any advice.See blue circle, missing wheelSee blue circle, missing wheelYellow circle close upYellow circle close up

The part that is missing is called a Starwheel and it serves to guide the paper. Chances are the missing piece is under that metal plate and blocking the paper when it tries to feed. You can try to manually push a piece of heavier paper or mylar underneath in an attempt to floss out the jammed part. As that missing wheel is not right at the edge of the page you may find that the printer will still feed ok once the obstruction is removed.
