We used to have a client that used 3150 devices that used software that used the same format. The only solution they ever found was to keep a copy of the old software running.  As you are working with a product that was long ago classified as end of life, it is unlikely you will find any support from HP. You may have to try a few 3rd party products to see if you can find one that will work.
