Every time we print on our color printer, the left side of the page has marks every 2 inches or so. They are typically a dark color, but every once and awhile, they 'ghost' text that was printed earlier on the page.

Sounds like you have a fuser issue. A defective fuser will often leave repeating defects or ghost the image printed down the page. Heres how to tell for sure: perform a half cycle test. have the machine print a single document from the MP tray, and then stop the print by opening the toner access door BEFORE its allowed to hit the fuser. If the defect is not on the page, its your fuser. if there IS a defect, then you can bet the problem is with a cartridge. In the event you do suspect a cartridge, a color print test from the troubleshooting menu should tell you which. Hope this helps.
