Hi @RetiredOne1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it can be to lose access to your printer because of a forgotten password.

Could you confirm  if the issue is with the admin password for the Embedded Web Server (EWS) or the Wi-Fi/network password stored on the printer.

In the meantime, here are few general steps you can try to reset or restore access:

01.Confirm Model and Password Type

Identify whether the password issue is with the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) or the Wi-Fi/network connection.

Check the printer’s control panel for any lock or password prompt

If it’s the EWS, you’ll need to reset via the printer’s settings

If it’s Wi-Fi, you may just need to re-enter your router password

02.Restore Network Settings

Resetting the network settings clears saved Wi-Fi credentials and passwords.

On the printer control panel: Setup → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings- This will remove all saved Wi-Fi networks

You can reconnect by entering your router password again

03.Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

If the admin password is lost, a factory reset may be required.

On the printer control panel: Setup → Service → Restore Defaults- This erases all custom settings, including passwords

After reset, you’ll need to reconfigure the printer from scratch

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
