I'm trying to install the s/w for my new printer, but the setup prog cannot find my printer on my network, even when I give it the IP address.  But I can access the printer's home page from my browser just fine.  What do I need to do to get it to find my printer?

Update: On a whim, I went to look at the Devices & Printers page in the Win10 Control Panel, and lo and behold, my printer is there.  I also just tried to print something, and it worked.  But when I went to the app that allows me to scan, that said it could not find my device.  So it appears that I can print, but I need the installer to work in order to get scanning to work.  I also want to find out if I need to update the firmware in my printer, which presumably the installer would also do.

Later Update:  I downloaded the HP Print/Scanner Doctor s/w, and had it do the installation.  That worked.  I can now print and scan as expected.

Hi,

From the Control Panel remove any existing instance of your printer by selecting Remove Device.

Next, select Internet & Network > Network and Sharing Center within the control panel.

Click Change advanced sharing settings from the left pane and expand the Private Profile, within Network Discovery uncheck the box to automatically install a network connected device and confirm the changes.

Next, download and install the latest drivers for your printer below:

Please let me know how it goes,

Shlomi

I did that, actually a couple of times, and every time, it works, but if I shut-off my PC and the printer goes into standby or sleep or whatever HP calls it, then when I re-turn-on my PC and try to print, nothing happens.  It's like the printer does not wake up from being asleep.  I have tried pressing the power button, but that too does not work.  How can I get my printer to wake-up when I want to print?  The printer is connected via Ethernet.

I just tried it again, and the print worked.  Maybe it was a Windows issue since Win10 just got updated today.
