HP Colour Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw

I'm hoping someone out there can help me!  I have a Colour Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw with an error message Document Feeder Jam Clear and Reload.  I have unplugged the printer, I have cleaned the intake rollers, cannot find anything on this to resolve my issue. Help!

@Smacdo

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Do you see any jam in the ADF?

Are you facing this issue after an update?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Clear jams in the document feeder

A Jam in the document feeder message displays on the product control panel.

  1. If paper is visible in the document feeder, grasp the leading edge with both hands and slowly remove it.

I have this same issue. I've had it for a long time and cannot seem to fix it. I've tried the hard reset and uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure I had the most up to date drivers. Any other suggestions?

@kk50, Welcome to HP Support Community!

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!

  • Hi there
  • HP Colour Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw - I have the same problem with the Document Feed Jam with the ADT which stops me from scanning multiple documents.
  • There is no obvious jam and I have hard closed on several occasions to try and reset the printer but it is having none of it!
  • Can you also please send me the factory reset instructions to try (pain as it will be to do this!).
  • Thank you.
