Printer: HP laser jet pro MFP 4101fdw

Windows 10.

I am on a wired connection. When accessing the embedded server I get this message. Although the password set does not work. When accessing this on a WiFi connection, the password set does work.

is there anyway to clear this password so I can test a new wired set up for a possible production push. I need this for my works test lab but this is hindering any continuation since we can’t access the admin console. The pin does not work printed on the label.

Hello Dilly15,

Thank you for posting your concern

If you've forgotten the password for the web server interface on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdw, you can reset it by restoring the printer to its factory default settings. Here are the steps to do so:

Reset to Factory Defaults

  1. Access the Printer Control Panel:

    • Navigate to the printer's control panel.
  2. Restore Factory Settings:

    • Go to the 'Setup' menu.
    • Scroll down and select 'Service'.
    • Select 'Restore Defaults'.
  3. Complete the Restoration:

    • The printer will reset to its factory default settings. This process will clear the current web server interface password.
  4. Set a New Password:

    • After the reset, you can access the web server interface using its default credentials.
    • Open a web browser and enter the printer's IP address to access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).
    • Follow the prompts to set a new password.

Note: Restoring the factory settings will erase any custom settings on your printer, including network settings, fax logs, and custom user settings. Make sure to back up necessary information before performing this reset.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
