Easy Start

Hi,

I'm trying to install Easy Start software on my Mac. My new OfficeJet Pro 7740 is installed and printing just fine, using wifi connection. But when I try to scan a document the printer tells me I need to install the HP software. I downloaded Easy Start and launched the installer app. It guides me through the install steps and downloads the apps. When download is finished I click install - but I get a message: "Easy Start cannot be installed now. Please try again later." I click OK and the download deletes.

I did try again a couple of weeks later, downloading again, but with the same disappointing results.

I checked my Applications/HP folder and it only contains a file named "Icon?". There's no evidence that anything was installed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Never mind. I fixed it. I downloaded the (same?) software from a different HP page and this version worked.

Hope this helps someone...

I see why it's called Easy Start... Easy Finish might not be appropriate. (Apologies)

Anyone?

Sorry for whining but I have a client waiting for me to scan a document. I have this great HP all-in-one that's supposed to scan but I can't install the software...

Please. Need help.

Hi Bwfolwer,

I'm having the exact same problem installing and downloading the software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 on my company's MacBook Pro Retina, OS X Mojave, 10.14.

Could you post a link or otherwise point me to where you were able to download the software? Setting up this printer to work with our PC, Chromebook, and Mac has been a nightmare.

I am also having the same problem on a 2017 13" macbook air running Mojave. I downloaded easystart from the 123 website that HP pointed me at and it has failed two or three times now just like yours did.

Sorry to hear that you are having the same installation problem. Here is the page where I downloaded the version that worked for me:

I don't know (or care very much) why this version worked. The only other difference was that I opted to not download the Help file. That may or may not have had any effect other than speeding up the downloads. Just sayin'.

I hope this helps.

It took two tries, with the first one failing in the same fashion, but the second one worked! Thanks!
