HP Color Laserjet MFP M477fdw. I cannot print because of caption " Encryption credentials expired" . I am not very computer savvy. I need advice without that assumption please.

Hi @JohnMcD1

The "Encryption Credentials Expired" error typically occurs when the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) certificate has expired. This hinders the secure connections required for AirPrint and Secure Internet Printing Protocol (IPPs) on macOS and iOS devices. Here’s how to resolve this issue by generating a new self-signed certificate:

Steps to Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

  1. Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

    • On a Windows computer, open an internet browser.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar and press Enter. This will open the printer’s EWS page.
  2. Navigate to the Certificates Settings:

    • Click on the Network tab in the EWS page.
    • Expand Advanced Settings by clicking the plus sign.
    • Select Certificates.
  3. Create a New Certificate:

    • Click on Configure.
    • Select Create a New Self-Signed Certificate.
    • Click Next and then Finish.
  4. Confirm the New Certificate:

    • The printer will generate a new certificate that defaults to 10 years from the valid date.
  5. Close the EWS Page:

Once the new certificate is generated, the issue with the encryption credentials should be resolved, allowing you to continue printing.
