My HP M281cdw Printer has started displaying Error 55.0602 and will not print.  I have tried unplugging the on printer as suggested in other forum posts but it does not fix it.  The printer is out of warranty and the HP Smart app desribes the error as "DC controller NVRAM access error".

Please advise on how this can be remedied.
Thanks,

Michael

@Synergist Welcome to HP Forums Community!

I've looked into the details of the error code you've mentioned - "55.0602 - DC controller NVRAM access error", and it seems to represent a PCA (Printer cartridge assembly) failure, you could attempt a power reset as per HP Standards using the below steps to resolve the issue:

  • Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    • NOTE:
    • HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the error persists, the engine control PCA needs to be replaced and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:

follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my first post as the solution should help others too.

Working with an HP Support engineer, I was able to fix this issue by doing these steps:

  1. Remove all printer cartridges
  2. One by one from front to back, add the printer cartridges and close the printer after adding each cartridge.

Hope this helps others.
