Hi,
My printer restarts every minut for the last three days with a 79 service error. I have tried all of the suggestions stated in the topics about this error. Is there something else I can do, like sending a new firmware package to the printer. For the moment I can not find any software for my printer else then HP Easy Start but with my printer constant restarting this is no option.

Repetitive errors are often caused by corrupted print jobs being stuck in the print queue of a computer. You need to clear that error first as you are correct that a firmware update is not possible in an error state. Another possible cause is full fax memory, so if you use fax you should clear the fax memory as well. Below is the public document from HP Tech Support on resolving 79 errors.

- The printer has experienced an internal firmware error.
- An incompatible DIMM might be installed.
- Turn the printer power off, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn the power on and wait for it to initialize.
- If you are using a surge protector, remove it and plug the printer directly into the wall socket. Turn the printer power on.
- If the message persists, disconnect any network or USB cables and power cycle. If the printer returns to Ready, check the firmware version and update if a newer version is available. For instructions on updating the firmware, go to HP LaserJet Pro - Update the printer firmware.
NOTE:
The firmware version can be found by printing a Configuration Report from the control panel of your printer. Visit the HP Customer Support Drivers page to find the latest firmware version available. - If the error is intermittent, attempt to isolate the issue to something specific in your environment.
- Delete all print jobs from all computers connected to the printer and send a simple test print job.
