I've had a Laserjet P2055d since 2011 and it's worked flawlessly. Suddenly whenever I try to print anything I get the error message ERROR 3D910C8 and it tells me to switch the printer off and then on again, which I have tried but does not resolve the problem.
This does not appear to be a driver issue - I have tried the printer with other Windows machines and the same problem occurs.
The printer is connected via USB cable.
Please tell me how to solve this as I need to print urgently.

Click the below link to download and install the required printer driver first
http://www.helpjet.net/Fs-10525080-80177087-47706000.html
Perform these below shown steps after the driver installation:
- Turn off printer.
- Go Control Panel\Devices and Printers, select “Remove Device” all printers (HP P2055d).
- Go Control Panel\Programs and Features, uinstall/remove all programs (HP).
- Restart computer.
- Run file “upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe”, select “USB mode plug and play” (in “Devices and Printers” windows with made 02 printers “HP P2055d PCL6” and “HP Universal Printing PCL6”).
- Go “Devices and Printers” again, select “Remove Device” both printers “HP P2055d PCL6” and “HP Universal Printing PCL6”.
- Restart computer again.
- Turn on printer and wait windows find and know your printer (if windows know your printer is “HP Universal Printing PCL6” is OK).

Sorry, no, your instructions did not help at all. I spent hours removing things as per your instructions, now I have also lost my HP scanner drivers. I now have the HP universal printing and also another icon for the p2055d in my devices. But the printer still does not work - when I command it to print a document it feeds the paper through but I get the same error message and it tells me to turn the printer off and on again, which doesn't work.

Hi thecynicalmonk,
First, you search and download “upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe” file at:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/UPD/
Then you need to uninstall the existing drivers for the printer completely from Windows, try follow these steps:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer if present or turn off your printer.
- Go to Control panel/Programs and feature, select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control Panel/Devices and printer, select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left "Start" button on desktop, type "Device manager" in the search box and tap "Device Manager" on the menu.
- Once in "Device manager", click on the "View" tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the "Device manager" list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “Uninstall” – In the confirm device uninstall popup, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "Printer queue" and "Imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to “Drivers” and remove any entry there as well.
- Now restart your computer again.
- Run “upd-pcl-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe” and select “USB mode plug and play”
- Connect the USB cable if prompted.
- Then turn on printer and wait some minutes to windows know your printer.
- Go “Devices and Printers”, if you only see “HP Laserjet P2055d UPD PCL6” is finish.
I glad to help you.

Actually this problem began just a few days after I updated Windows 10 to the Creators Update. This morning I did a rollback to the previous version, and for the moment the printer seems to be working. I will let you know if I have further problems.

I saw the same problem (49 erro XXXXXX Turn off then turn on) with HP P2055d after upgrade to Windows 8.1x64 bit and Windows 10x64 bít. Now ít's working fine with Windows 10x64 bit.
So, you don't worry and try steps in my post.

Please retry full steps in my post.
Note: When you uninstall, if you can't Remove/Delecte HP printers (installed with other drivers) on your PC, you need restart PC, then retry full steps.

Hello Dunglevliet67,
Since dec. 3rd I am experiencing exactly the same problem as thecynicalmonk a few months ago, with two HP Laserjets P2055d and a laptop with win10 (64 bit) operating system. Both printers work fine with an other computer (win 7).
I tried your solution, but after the second last step the message " 49 err 3D910C8" shows up again on the printer's display.
Windows doesn't give the option to restore the system to a point prior to dec. 3rd, when some important automatic updates were installed.
Any suggestions?
Best regards,
Pasqué (Italy)
