I am consistently getting error message 55.0602 or 55.1 inspite of doing all the suggested solutions of turning the product off and on. I have done it at the printer, at the socket without a surge protector and by unplugging at the back of the printer and plugging it in again - waiting at least 30 seconds or more or overnight. I still get the error message after all this.

What shall I do next?

I did as suggested and this did not work, even the factory reset. The error message re-appeared on the printer screen again and again.

Then I followed your next suggestion, thanks.

Hello, @fjn – Greetings!

Thanks for joining the HP Support Forums! I would glad to be of your assistance 🙂

I understand that are getting error 55.0602 or 55.1 on your printer screen. I would suggest performing a printer power drain followed by a full factory reset on the printer. Follow the steps below to do a printer power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, then I would suggest performing a factory reset on the printer. I am sending you a private message with steps. Please click on the mailbox icon at the top right corner of this screen to access your inbox.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know how that goes!

Cheers 🙂

HP support noted that the error message was not going to be resolved and a replacement printer has been sent to me. Thanks for your help.

Didn't work for me either.  "Something is wrong with your printer or ink system.  Turn on and turn off. ... Contact HP."

Okay, I'm contacting.  What's up?  How to do a factory reset?
