I have an error message that says "Jam in output bin. Open rear door and clear jam." I opened the rear door and there is no jam. There is no paper there. I cycled the printer to no avail. Do low toner cartridges have anything to do with paper jam messages?

there is probably and jammed piece of paper blocking a sensor.  does the error come up immediately if you turn off the printer and back on again?  if so, clear sign a sensor is blocked or possibly even defective.  check your paper paths, any place the paper makes contact with a roller and check for debris blocking anything.  take some canned air to it.
