Hi @JEDBD

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP LaserJet printer uses a self-signed security certificate to encrypt communications. Over time, that certificate expires, just like a passport, blocking your devices from talking securely to the printer. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Renew the Certificate

1. Find Your Printer’s IP Address

  • On the printer control panel:
  • Go to Settings
  • click on Network
  • Select Wireless or Wired (depending on your connection), then note down the IP address.

2. Open the Printer’s Web Interface

  • On your Mac:
  • System Preferences
  • Printers & Scanners
  • select your M252dw
  • Options & Supplies
  • Show Printer Web Page.
  • Or enter the IP in a browser’s address bar.

(macOS might display a “certificate not trusted” warning; just click “Advanced” → “Proceed” to move ahead.)

3. Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

In the web interface:

  • Go to Network → Advanced Settings → Certificates.
  • Click Configure (next to “Printer Certificate”).
  • Choose Create a New Self-Signed Certificate.
  • Set the validity to the maximum (e.g., 3650 days or 10 years).
  • Click Apply and wait a couple of minutes for it to finish.

4. Restart & Reconnect

  • Restart your printer.
  • On your Mac, resume the paused print job, and everything should flow smoothly now.
