When we receive a fax, once in a while, the printer prints a few times (between 5 and 10 times) the same page : a fax error report. On this report, we can see everytime that the result (or error message) is busy. The printer tries to receive the fax 1 min later, then 5 min later and so on until it works (printing a fax error report everytime).
What you need to know :
- The frimeware is up to date
- The fax line is dedicated, and not very busy (meaning that when we receive a fax, it is the only one at that moment)
- The printer is not used at the same time for printing a document
- We are able to send and receive fax with the printer. This problem is only punctual
- When calling our fax number, we do hear the fax sound.
I want to know how to fix this so that it doesn't print that many fax error reports and why it says that the printer is busy when it really does nothing else.
Thank you very much

The "Busy" error only happens and is reported when the fax is being sent from your fax, not when it's receiving. Typically the fax is setup to automatically retry sending whenever a "Busy" is detected at the receiving end. It will retry the specified number of times as programmed into your fax. It will record those Busy times for the report. You can usually turn off the auto-error reporting feature in your fax options. Also, if you have send confirmation and error reporting enabled on your fax, every time it fails to send a fax after the configured times, it will print a error report so you know right away that it failed. If you want, you can change the send failure reporting options so that it doesn't do that anymore. Check your fax options on your device.

Re: "Is it possible that our fax is trying to send a confirmation of reception to the sender and that is why we have the result «busy» ?" Answer: No.
Your fax will only print a "busy" result on your fax only, and only when it is trying to "Send" a fax.
If a fax is being sent to you and your fax is busy receiving another fax, the sender will get a "busy" notification, but your fax will never know another fax was trying to call in. If a fax is being sent to you and your printer is busy doing something else like copying or printing, the incoming fax should be stored in memory until the printer becomes "Ready", then it will print out. I only know of one printer model that would only let you do one thing at a time, so if you were sending or receiving a fax, it wouldn't let you do anything else, so it wouldn't be busy for the fax.
I've never ran across a fax that would report an incoming fax as failed because it was busy doing something else, but maybe yours does.
Can you post a copy of the error report (with any phone numbers redacted) so I can see what you're looking at?
