Greetings HP Community!  Trying to set up the HP E87660Z to fax over IP.  Have the settings from the fax service.  Still will not go.  What am I missing?  I searched the HP Manuals and not much on the subject.

I believe you will need some type of LanFax system running. The E87660 uses a standard analog modem and requires an analog phone line to fax or as mentioned an external Lanfax system. It is possible that a future firmware upgrade may add the ability to fax over IP directly but currently, to the best of my knowledge, you cannot do that.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by giving kudos and marking my post as an accepted solution.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.  Yes, it will require either having a fax server or a service.  They have a fax service and we input the network/IP path with the domain.  Actually, we got it working this morning.  It turned out someone typo-ed the setting and just kept copying/pasting the wrong string.  So, we were doing it right, just missed a switch (slash).  If you load Future Smart 4.8 is makes it a lot easier (unless you have a fat-fingered friend).  In the old Enterprise models, I heard that you still had to have a fax card installed because it used the card to process the signal, but it never actually used the phone line.  Now you don't even need the analog card and it processes on the formatter.

Again, thanks for the reply!
