Using Windows 10 Home; Dell PC; USB connection. Downloaded and ran the Extended Scan .msi. Nothing changed. A simple B&W 1 page original to PDF takes up 275kb. I just bought 4 of these Laserjet Pro MFP M227fdw for my office, and was hoping to use them to scan our business documents. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that when you scan using the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw, the scanned image is of huge size.
I suggest you to scan using a lower resolution or dpi (dots per inch). The resolution, measured in dots per inch (DPI), impacts scan quality. Higher resolution produces clearer and more detailed scans, but increases the file size and can take longer to complete the scan job. Use a higher resolution for scans with graphics or items that require the best detail. For black and white text documents, higher resolution is typically not required.
Please try to check the scan settings of the application you're trying to scan from. The below document should help in scanning depending on the operating system you're using:
I hope this information helps. Feel free to keep me posted. All the best! 🙂

The solution to this issue is not to change the resolution, because this diminishes the documents quality. HP needs to add the ability to adjust the file size of the scanned document at the printer. HP Scan application for Windows 10 already has this capability.
