Documents look very strange as the printer isn't using the fonts within the document.  Inconsistent.

It turned out that I had bought non-HP toner cartridges and had installed it at about the same time as getting a new computer.  It seemed to be connecting fine and printing (although weirdly), but when I put in my "old" HP toner, the issue went away.  Needless to say, the non-HP toners are being returned and I'll buy a HP toner cartridge.
