HP Color Laserjet 3600n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There seems to be something in the way that is preventing the door from fully closing.  I have swapped out all the cartridges and the transfer belt assembly.  There doesn't appear to be anything broken inside.  Because the door won't close, it won't initialize.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your ideas but it wasn't a cartridge problem.

I enlisted a co-workers eyes and she found a white tab in the upper left corner that was hanging down unlike our other 3600s.  When it was pushed up, everything snapped in and the door closed completely.

Hello @Cindy1995

Im not seeing any information available as troubleshooting for the problem I mean I do get to see some other information on what to review to replace once that the covers on the printer are out and which parts could have the problem

I believe that if you dont see anything out of place and if you tried to close the door multiple times with a different set of toners its safe to say that those inside components could be broken (I will suggest you to try to close the door without the toners inside just to see what it does )

This usually occurs when one or more toners are not fully seated.  Most times it is the black cartridge lock on the left side breaks so the black toner cartridge is sitting a bit out on the left side and the door will not close.  Easy to tell.  Just remove all the toners and see if you can close the door.  If you can put one toner at a time starting at the bottom back in closing the door each time a cartridge is installed.  If you get to the black and it will not close, then look on the left with the black cartridge removed and you will see a beige or black piece hanging down where the left side of the toner slides in. Sometimes you can take a small piece of cardboard and with your finger move the piece up out of the way and then use the cardboard as a shim to hold that piece up and then the toner will go all the way in.  It will work ok since the transfer belt holds the toner in place without the lock.

You are a life saver!  This worked like a charm.

For as many black cartridges this printer has gone through, not until today had I experienced the same issue.  Thank you for the solution, the white tab in the upper left corner.....I used an expanded paper clip to hold it up in place until the cartridge was seated.
