Front or side door open error when closed

For my laserjet 500 color M551, I am receiving an error message stating: Close front or right door. Both doors are closed, there are no obstructions, however, the front door doesn't close easily. Also the bottom tray doesn't lift.

Open front door, on the left, should be tonner collection unit ( white plastic bottle) check if that bottle is installed properly.

I made sure it was in properly, I even replaced  it. I've taken it out and put it back in, both the collection unit and toners. On the printer it says the collection unit is "OK" the toners are "unknown" There is however a little plastic piece, above the bottom blues cap on the collection unit, that gets caught on the door plastic piece when it gets shut, making it harder to shut the door. So I had taped that up so the door will shut a little easier. But it doesn't seem to bother any other sensors or mechanisms.
