HP Color LaserJet 4700n

I had to replace the fuser kit in an HP Color LaserJet 4700n sometime last year and the new one gave me a 50.2 fuser error so I put back the old one in and for some reason, the printer took it as a "new" fuser kit. Now, it's about that time to replace the kit and there's papers being printed with lines on them from the fuser kit. I had ordered two brand new fuser kits and when I installed both of them, they BOTH gave me a 50.2 fuser error. I asked my supervisor if I could order another fuser kit and he's asking me why if there are two brand new kits. I've tried everything to troubleshoot this printer as to why it would give me that error.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

When you put in the brand new defective kit that gave you the 50.2 error there was a part in it caled a fusible link that blew in a fairly short number of seconds, but before it blew the signal that passed through it reset the fuser count.

Since the fuser count was reset the machine believed that any fuser put into it after that was a new part including your old fuser.

You should have returned the defective part to your supplier and got it replaced and then you would hopefully have had a good fuser kit now.

The next question is where these hp OEM new parts or aftermarket rebuild?

Since you have two defective fusers they are probably aftermarket rebuilds and you can try to get them replaced and you might get lucky.

If they are HP new parts then you can probably get them replaced but you may have to find your proof of purchase.

If it was me I'd be exploring every Avenue trying to get them replaced before I had to go admit to my boss that I screwed up.

I ended up having to turn in the printer to Tier 3 support. It turns out that the fuser kit was the wrong part. There are actually two fuser kits, one that is 110v and the other that is 220v. I had the 220v part and that wasn't what I needed. So the tech ordered the 110v and it should be resolved after that.

I hope this will help others if they ever get this issue.
