I am having trouble finding the correct fuser for my HP CLJ 5550dn printer. I need the one with the cut-outs for the static discharge eliminator unit release levers. Is there a special part number for this fuser? I've ordered the HP 645A 110-Volt Fuser Kit (Q3984A) from Staples. It says it fits my printer, but it doesn't because there are no cut-outs for the unit. Thank you.

Please post some better pictures as the output does not show. We should be able to see the 2 mounting screws in both pictures. Also take a picture of the gear on the side of the fuser. It is possible you have gotten the fuser for the 5500 and not the 5550 either by a mistake or the wrong fuser.

I checked with a friend who works for the largest Canon/HP parts supplier in the US. These fusers are manufactured by Canon. According to him and their internal tech support personnel, there is only one fuser for the HP 5550.
You should post a photo of the old one and new one because it is possible someone altered it.

Here are the additional pictures you requested. The first one is the original fuser and the second is the new fuser. Below these is a picture of the two together with the original fuser on the bottom showing the indents. I will attach pictures of the gears in my next post.

Hello,
The response DavidZuts gave is accurate. Sorry, been busy all day so far.
The photos must have needed approval by HP Forum Admin before they appeared because they were just blue triangles yesterday.
It is quite possible that someone replaced the front cover and did not switch the "model badge". I have seen this personally and my techs have reported back that the model number on the machine did not match what it really was.
The good thing of parts fitting multiple models is there are plenty of parts around, but that is the bad side of having interchangable parts.
