I installed a new HP Yellow 131A cartridge and got a "remove shipping lock" error message. All shipping locks removed, all cartridges are original HP cartridges

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

Use this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-200-color-mfp-m276/5097648/model/5097653/docume... for Replacing the Toner Cartridges

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, try with the different or old toner and check if the issue persists.

Keep me posted, how it goes! However, we'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!

It still comes up with that message. I switched it with the Magenta toner and it gave me the same message. I bought another cartridge because I had things I needed to print and it works just fine. I bought the faulty cartridge online with HP. Can I return it?

Hi there, I am having the exact same issue. I've followed all the steps above, but it still says remove shipping lock even though I removed it entirely, i checked that it was the same length as the other shipping lock as well (made sure all the ribbon was pulled out), and it still is not working. I am using HP cartridge.
