Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We are having a problem printing from a brand new Laserjet M607. When printing on pre-printed forms, it prints a "shadow" image of the form, which appears offset by a few inches, behind the actual printout. On other printouts, such as a config page, It print light grey streaks over the vertical length of the page. This problem occurred with an older printer of the same model. a new one was ordered, and the same exact thing is happening on the NEW printer. Because it is new, right out of the box, I am not willing to believe it is a bad toner cartridge or fuser.

Try printing on a normal plain paper a few pages to see how will result.

Have you properly set the printer for printing on a pre-printed form?

Make sure the firmware is up to date as older versions had issues with ghosting. As well, there are more settings on this printer than older Laserjets that can affect bonding, in particular, there is a humidity setting which helps humid environments.

Here is another suggested step from HP

To resolve the problem:
  1. Update the firmware to FutureSmart 4.9 or newer. A fix or enhancement is included in the latest version to improve this issue.
  2. From the control panel, open the Settings menu, open Print Quality, select Optimize, and then change the Moisture control setting to Alternate 1.

The firmware is, and was, up to date. We did some more troubleshooting and discovered that the printer appears to be "pulling" toner from the pre-printed form, causing the shadow image and subsequent streaks. We printed about 20 pages after printing a pre-printed form, and the streaks gradually disappeared, getting lighter with each page. The grey streaks also align with the printed form, which is a smaller paper size than standard letter size. Once the grey streaks disappear, printouts are clean. If another pre-printed form is printed, the streaks come back.

Is it possible that the printer is too hot and burning the toner from the pre-printed form? This happens on both the old and new printer of the same model.

It is also possible that your pre-printed forum is not bonded properly in the first place. You could try lowering the temperature of the fuser.
