I installed a tray 3 for 11x17 paper. Its set to 11x17 on the front dial. When I print, its not automatically printing, I have to tell it to use tray 3 for each sheet. I want it to automatically print.

If you print the configuration page does it show 11x17 paper installed in the tray? Some of the older HP units did not automatically set the paper size or possibly there is a broken paper size board or actuator in Tray 3.

I am not sure how to print the configuration, I can do a test page.
On the printer, when I try to set each tray to a different size paper, Tray 3 is not showing up. When I print, then it asks if I want to use tray 3.
I checked the properties in windows, it shows a Tray 1, Tray 2, Tray 3. 1 and 2 are set to letter, 3 is set to 11x17. Tray 3 is also showing as installed.

On the control panel of the printer go to "Information" and then "Printer configuration" This will print a page showing the setup of the printer.
