HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw has suudenly stopped working.  When you turn the printer on, the touch screen remains blank.  My computers all tell me that the WIFI printer is not online and when plugged in to USB, it says its not connected.

 

I have checked toner levels manually, tried turning it off and on again in various ways.... now really stuck!  Please help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

 

Let's try to reset the Printer here as it helps in removing any stored static electricity from the Printer which might be causing these issues.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  6. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

I have the same problem but my printer (same model) is new right out of the box. It is plugged into the wall power and it turns on. I can hear it warm up and the power light is on, however the screen is blank. I tried turning it off and on and I tried unplugging it for a few minutes and plugging it back in.   Still I see nothing from the display.

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
