HP printer MFP 4301 shows a NON-HP CHIP error on few cartridges after installing new ones. Probably due to compatability issues and a firmware update. With the current types of cartridges available (210A) which is also compatible, I preffer to use it. Thus, I want to rollback the firmware Version to version v6.12.0.1994 for 4301fdw. However, I could't find any older version available therefore could the HP community reach out to assist I would be greatful.

Hi @DESKTOP-L81UNJB,

I understand that you’re facing an issue with the toners compatibility after the recent firmware update.

Before proceeding, I’d suggest once to check the authenticity of the toners you got. For that, please visit the guidelines shown here in this link below:

https://www.hp.com/us-en/cartridge/anti-counterfeit.html?jumpid=va_dwnhjszxmv#tab=toner

While, rolling back to a previous firmware sounds like an obvious solution, it is also risky because rolling back a previous version of firmware can brick the printer. Therefore, if you are going to try that, please do it at your own personal risk.

Lastly, HP typically removes older firmware versions from their official support pages, making it nearly impossible to find a direct download link there.

Hope this helps.
