This has now been 12 solid hours of trying to install the printer software with no result other than frustration and a total waste of my time! Several weeks ago I spoke to a person named "Casper" at the HP help desk. This person connected my computer and immediately pointed out what he described as "online games" which he claimed had probably infected my computer with some kind of malware. (The games he specifically mentioned are NOT "online" games but were installed locally from the manufacturer's optical disks. "Casper" then installed some kind of anti-spyware software on my computer. He also advised me that the Best Buy Geek Squad would probably charge me $300 or so to sort out my Windows problem. ($300 was about what I paid for this laptop brand new! He left the spyware software installed. I deleted it later because it was giving me pop-up messages demanding that I PAY for the software. I have "reset" Windows four times since and my printer software STILL will NOT install. I STILL do not have a usable printer and this is very probably the LAST HP printer I will EVER waste money on!
