Acer Chromebook Spin 15
Chrome OS

Okay, I probably should buy a new printer to pair with my new Acer Chromebook Spin 15, but I like my HP Laser Jet 1020 printer and want to keep it another couple of years.  I don't do much printing, or need color for personal letters. Presently, the printer is connected to the Chromebook with a USB cable. When I click print I geta message that the document has been printed, but nothing comes out of the printer. NOTE: this is an old printer with no controls, just an On/Off switch on the back. Can anyone help me adn saving me from another computer related purchase

The 1020 is a host based printer. this means that there is no PCL interpreter built into the printer and it requires the host device to format and prepare the page for printing. You will likely have issues finding a host based driver for a printer this old for an OS that did not exist when the printer was released. Pass it on to a friend using windows and buy a new printer.
