IPad 13.1.3

I was trying to print a recipe from a website using their Print option, but it would only print out a quarter of a page and stop and it was supposed to be two pages. I tried numerous times and got the same thing.

Then I tried to print out an email to see if that would make a difference but the recipe was apparently still in queue from the recipe and spit out an inch of it and that was it.

Right now I have an orange blinking light but it’s been alternating with a green one too. I’ve unplugged it numerous times, last time I let it sit for quite some time and when I turned it back on all was fine but it still printed improperly and is now flashing orange again,

I took out the cartridge and put it back in again, took the paper out and put it in again and still the same.

I love this printer when it works but lately this is not uncommon for it. Sometimes as someone else has said, it’ll print but print out one page and take another 15 min. to spit out another one.

I’m doing this from an iPad Pro with the latest operating system, 13.1.3, but it’s done this with other versions also.

I sure hope you can help, thanks.

@SLatte1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

  • Make sure the printer and the iOS device are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.
  • Check the toner level, replace it if needed.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

For more info on blinking lights, refer to this document.

Try printing

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on, ink cartridges are installed, and plain paper is loaded in the main tray.

  2. Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon  or  .

  3. Tap Print or the Print icon  to open Printer Options.

  4. Tap Select Printer to select your printer.

  5. Change any of the following print job settings. Available settings vary depending on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

    • Paper: Make any paper size changes on the printer. AirPrint automatically detects the paper size loaded in the printer or the size selected on the printer control panel. If the detected size is different than the paper in the tray, an error might display asking to confirm the size.

    • Number of copies: Select how many copies you want to print.

    • Black & White: Select to print in grayscale. This option only displays for color printers.

    • Double-sided printing: Print on both sides of the paper for certain file types.

    • Page range: Select specific pages within a document or webpage to print.

Alternatively, you may also use HP Smart app on your iPad to print

Let me know how this goes.
