LaserJet 1100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a (very) old HP LaserJet 1100 printer that worked fine with my laptop, it was updated to Win10 a while back, and Windows did a new update involving over an hour of downloads - that was on (I think) Monday... possibly Tuesday.  On Wednesday I printed a page ok, then printer wasn't used... tried to print yesterday and now although the printer has lights on, and I can switch it on/off to check the lights go through, it just keeps saying my printer is offline on my laptop.

After a day of failed attempts to fix it but installing various things, I then had to spend 6 hours uninstalling everything and battling against crappy viruses.  Now I think I've sorted the viruses, hopefully.  But now I'm back to the printer issue.  Still sod all happens with it.  I uninstalled it, and spent aaaaaaaaaaages getting it back.  Installed the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which annoyingly runs and tells me there is a problem, but not how to solve it.  Says it check the printer is on, that it's connected... then re-tries, and it fails, then tells me to check the printer is on, and connected... then fails... etc.

What can I do to try and solve this?  No idea what the issue is, at first thought it was linked to Win10 update, but I know that was on Monday or Tuesday, and I know I printed something on Wednesday, and I don't think there's been any update since, but the printing failed the following week Wednesday.  Assuming it's down to Win10, but it might be something else.  Tried to find anything else to help, but getting nowhere fast, and am worried about trying random things since it led to the virus issue.  Hopefully the viruses should be sorted now, but the issue was certainly before they appeared, so completely lost.

Anyone else know any tricks?

Yay! It's fixed!

For the first time ever - I reset my Windows to a previous version (still Win10, but says a previous version, so I presume the one from before last week) and it works again!

Boo to Windows..... all sorted now tho, thank you 🙂

@Maya_80

Welcome to the HP Forums,
I hope you're well 🙂

As I understand the HP Laserjet 1100 isn't working,

And you've done a commendable job attempting the fix and writing it down,

Here's all I could find to help you with your printer: Click here

There is no windows update support for this OS/printer anymore,
hence attempt a driver rollback if any recent updates caused the issue.

Let me know how that pans out,
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Drattage... the printer broke...bought a new (second hand) printer. It wouldn't recognise the printer, so lookedback and saw I mentioned resetting windows. Went to do that, and it said it would uninstall lots of apps. I'm 100% sure it didn't say that before. But tried it anyway...and its uninstalled lots I use. But the printer doesn't work. It didn't say it would go back to a previous version of windows like I'm sure it did before. So now I've lost a heap of apps, and still can't get printer to work. Keeps saying "error" when I try to print. Any new ideas? Having net access issues so can't redownload all my apps or do major searching for hours. Just online for a few mins to write this...tried a couple of hours earlier...that led me to the mess I'm in now...doh
